BLACKSHAPE - ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL

There is just something about post rock that hits me especially hard. The experimental vibe it can often have, the way songs continue to build upon themselves, sometimes morphing throughout it into something completely different by the end. It takes you on a journey that feels so personal and intimate. 

BLACKSHAPE is no different, particularly this song. They describe it best themselves on their website: “BLACKSHAPE’s music lives in the dark hallways between tension and release… each song is a twisting journey toward catharsis, leaving it to the listener to decide if there is light at the end.”

The lyrics are sparse in ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL, intentionally so. And there is no ambiguity, the message is simple and very direct. But all of this makes it hit so much more intensely. It feels incredibly genuine and raw. And because of this, the link I’m sharing below is actually a live performance version of the song. The live instrumentals and vocals in my opinion just add so much to such the raw and personal journey that is this song.
