Nina Chuba - Fata Morgana

If you are German, you probably already know Nina Chuba. But if you aren’t, it is my honor to be the one to introduce you to her. She has such a distinct sound and aesthetic that you would instantly be able to pick out one of her songs, and yet she never lets her music get stale. I know I say this often, but Nina Chuba’s discography felt nearly impossible to narrow down to just one song. If you like Fata Morgana, I promise there are at least a dozen more songs from her that you will love. 

As for Fata Morgana, the title comes from the Italian translation of “Morgan the Fairy” from the King Arthur legends. The term is used to describe a type of mirage that severely distorts the image of something on the horizon, like a boat far out at sea appearing to be three boats stacked on top of each other. It fits well with the song, which is about finding out someone you once loved turned out to be nothing but a lie, or an illusion. 

It’s a fun song to jam out to, as many of Nina Chuba’s songs are. And maybe it can also help with the misconception that German is always such a harsh language!
